The Great Clearing Off
From PhillyShreds
The Great Clearing Off were a political hardcore punk band formed in 1998 (playing their first show in Summer 2000) and disbanded in early 2005. The group received comparisons to the Bay Area sound, the Degenerics, Catharsis, and Born Against, playing with a sound notable for dual guitar lines and dynamic song structures drawing from a variety of punk sources including hardcore, melodic punk, crust and emocore. They toured the US several times, released three records and a demo, and played several larger shows in Philadelphia including shared bills with Harum Scarum and Zegota. Live, the band covered songs by the aforementioned Born Against, Sleater-Kinney, and Dissucks.
