Dissucks were a crust-influenced melodic hardcore punk band from Philadelphia active between 1994-1998. Their combination of dark, nihilistic imagry and catchy melodies, particularly driven by sophisticated bass lines, made them immensely popular in the area and elsewhere in the North American crust punk scene. The band played countless shows at Stalag 13 alongside of the largest punk bands of the mid-late '90s, and toured through the Midwestern and Northeastern US and in Canada.

The group released two 7"s, one demo and appeared on several compilations. Drug and alcohol use caused frequent dysfunction within the band - second singer Jay Warren (ex-Fukt Punx) left early in the band's career for these reasons, appearing only on their demo. Related problems eventually forced vocalist Ray Edwards (ex-Sex Doggee) out of the group, spelling Dissucks' end.

Between 2006-2008, all three singers associated with the band (including Mikey Brosnan who sang in the immediate post-Dissucks band The Eighth Fire) passed away. Talk occasionally arises of a Dissucks reunion show or a discography CD, but neither has materialized.

[edit] Post-breakup

Immediately following Dissucks' breakup, Brandon, Tony and Andrew formed The Eighth Fire with Manual Seven singer Mikey Brosnan, who had also played with Tony in Dead Alive. The Eighth Fire played only a few shows, including a performance on WKDU.

Andrew remained active in the punk scene, playing bass in Kill the Man Who Questions, Amateur Party and Limp Wrist. He currently lives in Brooklyn. Brandon later moved to Ithaca, NY, where he has a family and plays in a metal band called Chapel Perilous. Jay's only musical involvement after Dissucks was in the short-lived group Haters of Babies and God which he co-founded with Tony in 2005, ten years after he had left Dissucks. Jay passed away in August 2006 due to complications related to his lung and heart conditions. After a break from music, Tony began playing again in the aforementioned H.O.B.A.G. and in Factor Faction, and is currently with Blood Bomber and Hessian. Ray died in 2008.
