| Article About Tristan From Kitschchao |
|

http://www.phillymag.com/articles/embrace_your_madness/
Back in the early/mid 1990s there was a Philly band called Kitschchao. The article is about the singer, Tristan. He went on to write some amazing books including Lord of the Barnyard and Kornwolf. (Just for the record, Kornwolf is about a werewolf in Lancaster County)
FTA:
“Embrace Your Madness”
He
was a novelist from the old school — a tortured, drunken renegade whose
brilliant first book earned comparisons to Faulkner and Kerouac. But in
the end, the chaotic beauty of Tristan Egolf’s prose was nothing
compared to the unrest in his head. A literary tragedy

| A Look at Philadelphia Van Thefts |
|
Anonymous writes "Cheap Shot!
Philly (http://www.cheapshotphilly.com/)
has posted an article talking about the ongoing issue
of van theft in the City of Brotherly Love. In October and November,
punk band Strung Out and ska-sters Suburban Legends were each robbed of
their touring vehicles, gear, merch, and personal possessions. Despite
recovering their vans and trailers, no gear and precious little of
anything else remained for either band.
Cheap
Shot! takes a look at these last two thefts by speaking with members of both
bands. Some possible solutions to the problem - as well as preventitive
measures bands can take - are also discussed.
You can read the article at: http://www.cheapshotphilly.com/content/vantheft.html"

| PHILLY DOGS NEED URGENT HELP! |
|
reposted:
-------------------------- As
many of you know, the last few days have been particularly difficult at
PAWS. Our kennels are extremely overcrowded; we have been taking in
literally dozens upon dozens of dogs each day. We are doing everything
we can to save them, but we cannot do it without your help. We
have more than doubled the number of scheduled adoption events this
weekend and we are asking for your help in spreading the word. If
you or anyone you know has been considering adopting or fostering an
animal, now is the time. Our weekend calendar of events is as follows: SATURDAY, December 8: Shelter Adoption Hours: 11am-6pm South Philly PetSmart (24th & Oregon Ave.), 11am-3pm Cottman Avenue PetSmart (7501 Horrocks St), 11am-3pm Manayunk (Main St Animal Clinic, 4331 Main Street), 12-3pm Buzzy's Bow WOW Meow (701 Montgomery Avenue, Narberth, PA), 12-4 p.m.
SUNDAY, December 9: Shelter Adoption Hours: 11am-6pm South Philly PetSmart (24th & Oregon Ave.), 11am-3pm Cottman Avenue PetSmart (7501 Horrocks St), 11am-3pm Rittenhouse Square, 11am-3pm Chic Petique (3rd Street, just below South St), 12-4pm Please
bulletin this email to everyone you can and enrouage them to do the
same. By working together, we can save these animals who so desperately
need us. Let's give each of them a chance at the safe, loving home they
deserve. The shelter is located at 111 W. Hunting Park Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19140. Please click here for directions. Full our full calendar of events and for more information, please visit our web site: www.phillypaws.org. PAWS,
the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society, is a donor-funded division of
the Philadelphia Animal Care and Control Association (PACCA) dedicated
to saving the lives of Philadelphia's homeless, abandoned and unwanted
animals. Taking in nearly 30,000 animals each year, PAWS is dedicated
to making Philadelphia a city in which all healthy and treatable
animals are guaranteed a home. Supporting PAWS helps fund lifesaving
initiatives including adoption and foster care programs, spay and
neuter surgeries, low-cost vaccinations, and other community-based
programming, all of which help reduce and will ultimately eliminate the
unnecessary killing of Philadelphia's animals. For more information,
